This is a plein air painting from the summer. The lake is located just north of Parry Sound, near Georgian Bay. It was and extremely hot and humid day, so a swim up to the island was a great way to cool off.
This one is dedicated to all the hockey moms and dads whose kids have had a 7am practice on Saturday and an 8am game on Sunday...ALL WINTER!!! I still have two in hockey this year as opposed to three in previous years. Yes, I love the game. Not allowed to cheer anymore though as my youngest now elbows me for causing a scene. Today would have been a write off had I not finished this one. I did start four others. I was so happy to get this one done that I rushed to take a picture of it just now and post it right away. Time for a cup of coffee and a book. Hope you enjoy the painting as much as I do.
Here I am painting on Brock Street in Toronto this past summer. This was part of a workshop with Stefan Galvanek. It's fun to paint in the city as you get the people walking by, stopping to watch and commenting on your work.
This is a portrait I painted of my youngest son. I painted it from a picture taken at the daycare he was attending at the time. He was not happy about having his picture taken, and the photographer just barely got this before he cried.
I am currently working on a commissioned portrait of a three year old girl and will post itonce it's complete.
This is Vowels Lake, which is a small lake just north of Parry Sound, Ontario. I'll be posting a few from this area. I've been taking a class with an artist named Stefan Galvanek ....well actually for years now. I've told him that I'm a member for life. He introduced me to this lovely area. Parry Sound is a town that loves art, with summer studio tours and "Paint the Town" which an event that welcomes artists set up along the streets and paint. Lots of fun to walk around and stop to watch the artists at work. You can even go for a cool drink, come back and purchase one straight off the easel.
I'm an artist and daily painter (well I try to post daily) from just north of Toronto, in Canada. I paint portraits or figures mainly. I am also using this venue to explore some different ideas and techniques. Please contact me by email if you are interested in purchasing one of the paintings you see on my blog. I do accept online portrait commissions working from photographs including commissions for portrait miniatures. Please email me for further information. Thanks for visiting!
